AP World History: 

This course follows the syllabus and guidelines as set forth by AP Central (Click Here). Students will examine key dates/events in history and how they relate to modern times. Students will also learn the skills needed to successfully take the AP exam.

Grades: 10 - 12

Length: This is a full year course.

This course follows the syllabus and guidelines as set forth by AP Central (Click Here). Students will examine key dates/events in Europe’s history and how they relate to modern times. Students will also learn the skills needed to successfully take the AP exam.

AP Human Geography:

This course follows the syllabus and guidelines as set forth by AP Central. (Click Here). Students will learn to better understand how human behaviors and customs affect the geographical properties of the world . Students will also learn the skills needed to successfully take the AP exam.

World History:

In this course, students will learn about key events in the world’s history, and their effects on both the world as a whole, and on certain demographics/populations. Students will develop their comprehension skills and will also learn to analyze primary source documents. This course can be adapted to meet the standards of the New York Regents. It can be offered at both standard and honors levels.

Grades: 8 - 12

United States History:

In this course, students will learn about key events in the United States’s history, and how this great nation was born.  Students will develop their comprehension skills and will also learn to analyze primary source documents. This course can be adapted to meet the standards of the New York Regents. It can be offered at both standard and honors levels.

Civics:

The US government was created to ensure that all citizens were able to express their opinions in a true democracy. In this class, students will learn how the governmental structure was created, and will examine whether the original goals set by our Founding Fathers have in fact been reached. Students will develop their comprehension skills and will also learn to analyze primary source documents. This course can be offered at both standard and honors levels.

Grades: 8 - 12

Length: This is a full year course

 

Decades:

In this unique course, students will examine each decade in US History starting with the 1900’s. In each decade unit, the students will learn about historical, cultural, and sociological events that helped shape the time period as well as today’s society. This course incorporates a lot of multimedia sources and provides the students to use their creative talents for a variety of hands-on learning projects. Students will also develop their comprehension skills and will also learn to analyze primary source documents.

Grades: 6 - 12

Length: This course can be offered in either one or two semesters.

 

Advanced Holocaust Studies:

Most of the students are already familiar with the basic timeline of events of this period. In this course however, students will go beyond the basics and will further examine the events and effects of this horrific period in history. Through multimedia, virtual tours, and materials/lectures provided by Yad-Vashem, students will examine history from all viewpoints. This course contains difficult materials and subject matter.

Grades: 11 - 12

Length: This course can be offered in either one or two semesters.
